| The origin of EQUITABLE TRUST dates from the founding in 1930 of Equitable Securities Corporation in Nashville, Tennessee. Equitable Securities Corporation became a nationally known investment bank dealing in municipal bonds and corporate securities. In addition to its investment banking and brokerage business, the firm became the largest shareholder of the American Express Company through purchases for its own account. |
